Features & Facilities

In The Nunnery Guesthouse you have a choice. You might want some quiet time where you can keep yourself to yourself and you might choose to explore Melbourne under your own steam and direction. However if you need advice one of the Nuns (staff) will be more than happy to help you out.

The Sisters are particularly spot-on for recommending great bars, clubs and restaurants and Brother Francis (our cat) will take your confession if you need to get something off your chest.

The Nunnery Guesthouse has a communal kitchen which is available for your use any time of the day or night and there is a super comfy Lounge & Dining room.   Plus we have a tranquil courtyard area which is great for relaxing with a good book. Also laundry facilities are available for use to clean your dirty habits.

High speed Internet facilities are available in the main (budget) building as are telephone services PLUS you can choose to participate in any of the free activities available for our guests and centred in the main building.

Time for genuflection.
Located near artsy, cool and groovy Brunswick Street, The Nunnery Guesthouse is literally around the corner from an amazing array of live music, cafes, galleries, restaurants, and the best coffee in Melbourne. Great shopping can be found catering to everyone's tastes from funky techno fashions to antique books.

In winter check out the spectacular skiing and snow boarding resorts just three hours from Melbourne. In summer take a trip to the rugged Great Ocean Road or visit the Fairy Penguins at Phillip Island. The Nunnery can arrange these and other day tours such as the famous Neighbours/Ramsay Street tour.

Melbourne - Australia's Cultural, Culinary & Sporting Capital
There is an extraordinary number of things going on in Melbourne on any given day or night from huge cultural events (for example Melbourne International Comedy Festival) to Culinary (Melbourne has Australia's most highly regarded restaurants and cafes - Italian, Greek, Vietnamese, Thai, African you name it!) to international sporting events (for example the F1 Grand Prix & Australian Open tennis) and it would be virtually impossible to name them all. To get an idea of what is coming up have a look at The City of Melbourne's website by clicking on the link below...

Beer O'clock?
We are literally 2 doors away from one of Melbourne's best known pubs...The Pumphouse which offers a wide variety of beers, wines and delicious food.   The Pumphouse has won many awards for both their facilities and their service including AHA awards for "Best Hotel Bar" and "Best Hotel Reception". An excellent and convenient place to have a tall frosty beer or wine and their "Conservatory" is an ideal location for a function.   For more information about The Pumphouse you can view their website at
